Spine Surgery

Spine surgery is a specialty at Southern Oregon Neurosurgical & Spine Associates, PC

Spine surgery is a specialty at SONSA. Our neurosurgeons believe in extensive diagnostic evaluation and utilize the most advanced diagnostic technology available. A thorough understanding of each patient's condition allows us to recommend the most effective treatment options using the least invasive techniques, thus minimizing risks and improving recovery time and patient outcomes.

Our staff of neurosurgeons includes two of the only fellowship trained spinal neurosurgeons in our region.

Complete Care

Our team works in close collaboration with pain medicine physicians and physical therapists to develop treatment plans for each patient's individual needs.

Common Spine Conditions Treated at SONSA:

We offer the latest, most sophisticated surgical techniques as well as conventional methods to treat the full range of spinal disorders, including:

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MIS)

Advancements in diagnostic imaging, surgical techniques, and instrumentation are allowing neurosurgeons to perform surgery of the spine through smaller incisions and with less traumatic approaches than those associated with traditional spine surgery techniques. The neurosurgeons at SONSA focus on treating spine conditions using the most minimally invasive procedures appropriate for each patient.

Benefits of minimally invasive back surgery include:

  • smaller surgical incisions
  • less soft tissue disruption and damage to spinal muscles
  • less blood loss
  • reduced risk of infection
  • reduced scarring
  • a reduction in post-operative pain
  • a shortened hospital stay or outpatient surgery
  • a faster recovery

NOTE: Not all spine conditions should be treated using minimally invasive methods. SONSA ’s surgical team works with each patient to determine their individual treatment plan.
