New Technologies

One of the newest devices is the O-Arm® Imaging System at RVMC

SONSA neurosurgeons work closely with affiliated diagnostic centers and hospitals advising them on purchasing the latest technical advancements. One of the newest devices is the O-Arm® Imaging System.

The purpose of the O-Arm is to provide multidimensional images in real time. During surgery, the devise encircles the operating table and provides 3-dimensional images so surgeons can track alignment of the spine and placement of implant hardware. The O-Arm provides the ability to make adjustments at the time of surgery thus improving accuracy and patient outcomes.

"Safety and time are critical in the operating room," says SONSA neurosurgeon Dr. Walker. "The O-Arm offers multidimensional images in about 30 seconds. This real time imaging is not offered by other technologies and allows for maximum safety."

O-Arm's are utilized by the neurosurgeons at Providence Medford Medical Clinic and Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Patient Benefits

  • Safer, more accurate placement of spinal instruments for improved surgical outcomes
  • Less time in surgery
  • Reduced risk of repeat surgery
  • Less radiation exposure from imaging

Features

  • CT imaging without leaving the operating room
  • "Smart" system remembers positioning so O-Arm can return to preset position to make images
  • Surgeon can view implants in real time during insertion
